Annular cutter selector

This annular cutter selector matches your hole diameter and material thickness to the Kertz KZS (35 mm) and KZM (50 mm) series, shows the diameters available in our catalog, the matching pilot pin and a KMD magnetic drill. The basic rule: the cutter’s cutting depth must be equal to or greater than the thickness of the material being drilled.

Carbon/structural steel: standard conditions. Use coolant and the pilot pin.

Recommended cutter

Series Kertz KZS — cutting depth 35 mm (enough for this thickness; pick a deeper series for stacked plates).

Magnetic drill

For a Ø22 mm cutter. Capacity is shown only when stated in our data.

Make sure the cutter shank/arbor matches the machine; our team verifies this in the quotation.

How to use

Steps

  1. 1

Enter the hole diameter you need in millimetres, e.g. bolt size plus clearance.

  2. 2

Enter the material thickness, or the total thickness of stacked plates drilled at once.

  3. 3

Choose the material type to see speed and clamping notes.

  4. 4

Add the cutter, pilot pin and magnetic drill to your quote list.

Explained

How to choose the series and diameter

Choose the series whose cutting depth equals or exceeds the material thickness, then pick an available diameter. If your diameter is not available exactly, take the nearest larger size after checking the hole tolerance with your engineer.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can’t find the answer? Contact our team — we reply the same business day.

What is the difference between Kertz KZS and KZM?

Both are TCT annular cutters. KZS has a 35 mm cutting depth for medium-thickness plate and sections; KZM has 50 mm for thicker material or stacked plates.

How do I choose the cutting depth?

The cutting depth must be equal to or greater than the material thickness. Up to 35 mm use KZS; 35 to 50 mm use KZM.

Which pilot pin do I need?

Kertz uses PKZ pilot pins by series and diameter: Ø12–17 mm takes a 6.34 mm pin and Ø18 mm and up a 7.98 mm pin, with different lengths for the 35 mm and 50 mm series.

Which magnetic drill fits?

This tool only shows capacities stated in our data. For models without a listed capacity, our team confirms diameter and arbor compatibility in the quotation.

Can annular cutters drill stainless steel?

Yes, with TCT cutters, lower speed and plenty of coolant. Austenitic stainless is non-magnetic, so the magnet base needs a backing plate or clamp.
